Now, if I had already decided that I loved MGT, maybe I'd have some buy in to helping establish the game line. In that regard Traveller is like the cockroach of science fiction gaming-it has admirable durability. I'm happy for MGT if it succeeds upon its merits, but frankly if it tanks there will be another iteration of the Traveller rules available within a few years. If I can find people to play a game with, it has never really mattered much how many copies of the rules were available, only if people were willing to give it a go. I buy a fair number of games each year, but my sole criteria is whether they look interesting to me or not. It doesn't matter to me at all what company that purchase might support or whether the rules in question are current, reprinted, or OOP and bought used.

My only interest in this case is in possibly buying a worthwhile, non-GURPS set of Traveller rules. If I get a warm and fuzzy vibe from the creators I might go out on a limb for something pricey like I did for the pre-order of Wild Talents.
